Hows your season so far?

I have to say this is the worst season for me ever. I am hunting several different spots. 2 public, one small private piece. I have seen very litle action so far. My first goal was to shoot a doe for the freezer but its just not working out. Im not seeing any rut action. No does in range. No shooter bucks in range.

I have had several encouters this year with people screwing up my hunt. One was when i spent almost 3 hours on a monmouth county park to find a spot away from other people. well the first day i got to my spot i found a treestand about 10 feet away and my bright eyes were all gone.



Then on my small private piece, i had a hunter come in at about 330pm looking for my treestand. When he saw i was in it....he turned around and walked away. Then i had a monmouth county brush fire truck drive into the field and start crashing into trees at like 4 pm. I am not making this up guys.

My season has been terrible so far. Im not one of those guys who expects to see P&Y bucks all the time. I just try and enjoy myself in the woods. But this year has been awful so far. I hope you guys are having a better season then me. Good Luck to you all.

pat sorry your year isnt working out like it should. mine isnt that bad. could be alot better but i cant complain. the worst part is trying to keep people off the property and figuring it all out.

im seeing lots of deer. when u have a day of during the week like a monday hopefully the same monday i have off lets get together and i will take u to alittle honey hole with tons of does. atleast i can get u one for your freezer. let me know man. u have my number give me a call.

Thanks buddy. This is my favorite time of the year. And this year has been bad. Sometimes i wish i was at work instead of in the tree.....thats when you know its a bad season lol.

This season is certainly different. Last year we used to see up to 40 deer in one of the fields we hunted.. this year we might see 1 or 2 if we are lucky. We used to see so many more deer. That being said I have had deer in range at least 8 times this year. I have 2 down and 1 lost. Finally my nerves are calming and I am not missing.

Last year we had joggers, quads, kids, cars, and many more events mess up hunts. This year CO's seem to be the rage. Anyways good luck. Its just a matter of time.

My season is well...frustrating yet again

lost a huge ass doe the 3rd day of the early season...missed two does a week later...missed another doe a week after that

My luck was down the drain...I started letting deer walk by and just observing them. I started getting more and more comfortable having deer in range and figured out how to settle myself down.

I finally got on a decent buck, a nice little 8pt. I have had 3 encounters with him so far...I could have shot him at 40 yards twice but I would like to get him 30 or under.

On november 4th I decided I needed some meat for the freezer and decided to whack a doe. I figured I was ready stop letting them walk and give it a shot again.

4 does walked by at 40 yards, 3 fawns and mommy..I let them walk...then another fawn passed at 35 and finally a decent doe walked by at 30. She stopped in a clearing...I drew back and just settled myself in...calmed down and closed my eyes...opened them up..settled the pin...whack. dead in 50 yards.


I finally figured it out.

Now to have that 8 walk by...he will get it.

I have passed up two 4pts and a 5pt so far...tough as hell but I want my first buck to be nice

Only been out 8 times. Saw deer all Sept. then nothing all of Oct. Out twice in Nov and deer both times. Freezer is still empty as everything has been to far and no shots. I hope my set up is good for Monday and Tuesday for Muzzy. Got to get some meat in the freezer. Horns or no horns.
