| Out this afternoon with the Muzzy. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Having trouble finding a deer to shot. Thought they would be moving tonight. Try again on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. | |

| I went out this morning for Ducks & Geese. 30 mins before legal we saw (No BS) the biggest flock of Blacks & Mallards I've even seen. Had too be at least 100 to 150 Ducks fly by. The two other guys I was with (Ducati & Ringneck from NJH) almost had a hearth attack. With the marsh and the river frozen we had no chance to put Dekes out in open water, so the best we could do was lay them out in the snow. I'm sure we could have gotten them to land if we only had some open water. From their we spent the next three hours trying to call in (Once again no BS) at least 1000 Geese. I think the problem was we didn't have the right cover and the Dekes (Goose Shells) were kinda weak. Twenty mins before we were getting ready to leave that same pack of Ducks flew back by again just to piss us off. But needless to say, will still had a great time. | |

| What an afternoon hunt with the muzzy. Got a late start so decided to sneak into my spot I had set up sunday on the ground with no blind. As I approached the deer were alread there. I did the belly crawl in the snow for about 25 yards until I got to a tree for a good shooting rest. Put the gun up and there were 7 deer all does. I picked out the biggest on and let the muzzy bark. She went right down, thrashes a bit and then laid still. I thought great one down. As I reloaded I noticed a doe standing about 80 yds away wondering what just happened. Nice I thought so I put the cross hairs on the other doe and crack. She just stood there went to look and clean miss. Put the gun down by the tree and went to get the first doe. Well as I approached she got up and took off. Her hind legs seemed to be messed up pretty badly. I ran back to the tree got the gun and tracked her until 4:00when I lost blood and she crossed into the next property. I went and knocked on the door and no answer. I didn't want to tresspass so I went back to my tree. That will be the last time I ever approach a downed deer with out my gun. What a rookie mistake. Anyway back at the tree another small doe came in. I lined up the shot and pulled the trigger. She just stood there then walked off. Went to check clean miss. The best part is I was out of powder and bullets. I ran back to the truck and loaded up 2 speed loaders then back to the tree at 4:35. 5pm a small six walkd in and I nailed him. Don't know what was up with the missed shots, and the crippling of that doe, but I am going to look for her tomorrow morning. Here's a pic. | |
