| Just curious to see what everyone has to say about them. I have two of them and they seem to work better in open water on cloudy days. I tried them in flooded timber last year and had birds flairing like crazy. On the other hand i have had birds land right on them while using them. I guess it depends on the day and the conditions (just like everything else) | |

Pretty sure they are both painted. I agree that in open water those things are nuts

| The reason I asked the painted ?,,, we had one with bright metal (unpainted) . According to my brother who has used it in timber , it was making to much flash so they painted the wings a dull light brown and it worked well.
The only banded duck I ever killed was in timber with no decoys , no roboduck , nothing light were busting in without circling. The duck was 7 years old , had to be 12-14 lbs. big ole greenhead he was. That was a the best hunt ever ,and the last time I hunted with my father before he passed.

Great Story...I bet that band means soooooo much to you. I have had ducks dive into the timber we hunt as well and sometimes with the decoys it seems like they shy a bit. May have to try painting the wings. Thanks!

| I tell ya , it was a great day all around. We went just because we wanted to get out of the house , it was a bluebird day and warm. People dont think I'm tellin the truth about this day. That day we killed a limit of ducks way before sundown and was just sitting around laughing and talking and 3 bucks came running thru the middle of us. One was at the time the biggest I ever saw , he ran within 20-30 yards of me and stopped. There I am with my Browning 12 with freakin birdshot, had we been anywhere but where we were I would have shot him. The Tallahatchie River was 40 yards from us , he would have gotten into the river and we wouldnt ever be able to find him. Needless to say I keep a 30-30 winchester with me when I hunt that spot to this day.
Sorry for ramblin on about that day , but it was a day I wont forget.
