| On my way to work this way I observed a monster head down out of breath from chasing. I plan to hunt Tues and Thurs evening this week. Just out of curiosity when do you have your best luck up here morning or evening? | |

| nice job scotty. This morning I hunted the farm in Ringoes. I was a bit chilly with the wind. Scott texted me around 6:30am letting me know I had a deer coming my way. He was about 150yds away on the same field line. As soon as I read the text I looked in that direction and deer at 80yards. Looked like a doe. She walked off. I scanned the area and then back where the doe was. DEER. I put the binoculars up and it was a 2" spike. Same one I saw 2 sundays ago. About 15mins later I looked in the field across teh creek and I see a deer moving my way. Looked like a buck. I hit the grunt hand he comes a running. As he got closer I noticed it was the same 5pt that I see every time Ive hunted this farm. ( I think he has a crush on me). he hangs around a bit and then moves on. 10mins later i look in the same field and see another deer. I thought this has to be a bigger buck. I figured he heard the grunts and the 5pt and wanted to come and check out what was going on. NOPE. Big body little rack 4pt. Also saw a muskrat, a mink and had 3 geese swim up the creek to say hello. Pic from my stand

| Went out tonight with Chris Evan and Al. Had one doe follow my drag trail to about 20 yrds from my stand. I was surprised when I saw her following the trail but I guess she was just curious. About 30 min before dark I see a really nice red fox running around in the swamp I am set up in and as he is closing the distance I catch more movement off to my right. Never got to see the head but the body was huge on this deer. I decided not to shoot the fox which was at 5 yrds and taking a dump near my stand I was hoping that i could grunt the deer that was in the thick stuff out.....never happened. Oh well. | |

| you do it chris. Don't get discouraged. My day started off with me picking up a still sleeping Steve. We arrived at the Ringoes farm at 5:20am. Quickly got set up and moved out to the spots. Steve hunted the same stand as yesterday and i hunted a new stand we just hung. About 6am I look over my shoulder a see two does in the field. Mom and a lil one. She is spooky as hell. Wind is in my face and Im standing like a statue and she still picked me off at 50 yards. She just walked away (no run). That's it for the AM. PM wasn't much different. I hunted the same stand and it was very slow. Then about 4:20pm a notice a deer 80yds to my left. I put the binocs up and it's a little spike. I grunted to him and he comes closer. He ducks in the crop (7ft high bushes used for floral arangements). Then all of a sudden he pops out right at my stand. I had him at 12yds and could have really ruined his night, but he got a pass. He feeds on my corn for about 15min and walks off. I think Im gonna call this it the Dinker Farm. Cause that is all Ive been seeing. That's it for me til Friday. Hopefully I give a better report then. | |

| well i will start off with yesterdays report since i was way to tired to post anything last nigh.
Monday hunt
got in my stand and in watching the field i see two deer running. then i see a flashlight up by the house. the guy is walking his dog at 5:30 am. i thought great nothing. then about 6am i see two more deer walking the creek 35 yards away. then there are 2 more does on the field. im watching them when i see a deer walking the dirt rd. i look and its my freind the 3 pointer.lol this dude is always near me. i play with him for awhile with the grunt call then let him walk off. around 9:15 i see 2 more does on the field and one doe on other side of creek. she decides to bed down. then a black and white cat comes cruising by and scares her. she jumps up and he takes off runnung, man that was funny. she starts eating and the cat comes back. the stomps her foot and the cat ran up the tree about 4 ft. cat comes down ,doe stomps, back up the tree. lol that happened for about 5 minutes. well its 10:15 and this damn doe wont leave. so when scott comes over i had him walk towards the doe to scare it off so it wouldnt spot where i was at. this stupid thing stands there and he gets 30 yards from her and had to yell at her to leave. that was also funny.that was the end of my am hunt.
oh yaah. i seen a fox scare up 2 pheasants and my first ever mink.
then i get back in my stand at night and as soon as i get to the top scott calls abd says he smoked a doe walking in. that was sweet. i tell him lets wait about an hour and go get her. i see six does come into the field, then i left.
THE END
Tuesday hunt
am. i saw 7 does and two bucks in field. one buck was really nice. the other looked decent also. i couldnt get them to come over with the call so i hit the horns and the smaller buck came right in on a string. decent 6 at 25 yrds i let him walk. then i see a spike in the field and a bunch more does. also had a 4 point at 35 yrds. so the morning hunt i saw 23 deer and an anoying cockbird.
tonight i i had about 12 does . the 3 point chaising them. a small 4 point and a def. shooter buck in the field. the wind was howling and i did everything to try to get his attention but nothing, seems to me that the smaller bucks are ready for action but the bigger boys where i am arent. oh well hopefully with the cold front coming in that will change.
heading out tomorrow with chris scott and evan. i hope to nail a big one.
good luck to everyone going out

| Today started off with a big happy birthday to my mom to start the sucking up so I could go hunting this afternoon...it worked and I was in my tree by 2pm LOL I got settled in and everything felt so perfect. Wind was right and there was a nice cool breeze. Hit the calls a little bit with no response and sat there twiddling my thumbs wishing I had a shotgun to blast the 20 something squirrels I had in front of me. Around 4pm 2 does go bolting and leap across the river. I never saw them...they never saw me. They took off like jets very very cool to see. Within 20 minutes they were back and along were two others joining them. They flew across that creek like fighter jets hahahaha They worked their way, 3 fawns and mommy 40 yards away from me going back behind me... I was on the look out for a buck but he never showed Those deer were just milling about 50 yards behind me. Fun to watch and learn more about deer behavior Heard the "jets" take off again and here were two more does. The smaller one stayed on the same path at 40 yards but the other strayed off, a bit closer to me at 30. I wasn't going to shoot a doe tonight, but when no buck had shown himself and this doe offered me more then one opportunity for a shot I decided to just draw on her and let my mind take over... My stomach grumbled.....so I hit the release and that resulted in a loud whack. A few seconds later a crash, a deer rolling in the leaves, dead. Double lung, down in 60 yards. Great blood trail, complete pass through. A great confidence booster and some meat in the freezer, I am excited A mile drag later through mud I wondered why I shot LOL sorry for the crap cell phone pic | |

| my report NO DEER. Didn't see one, smell one or hear one. I may hang up the bow and wait for Muzzy. Getting frustrating nothing in the last 4 times out. Not seeing the deer where they were in Sept. They must have moved so that is while I'll need to do.
BTW. Congrats to Chris.

| Went out this AM hoping yet again to see my target buck that i have been chasing since Sept. The morning looked and felt great as I sat in the stand waiting for sunrise. And i sat.......and sat......and sat until 9am when i became frustrated that i have not been seeing any deer from that stand for about 4 sits. So i decided to take a little walk and try to figure out my bucks patterns since clearly, I was not on him anymore. I get to the other side of the lake and see some large fresh buck tracks working up into the woods so i decide to follow them and check out the woods for future hunts. I walk around very slowly with arrow knocked checking for rubs, scrapes, and other signs. Couple small scrapes, couple decent rubs.....then three very large rubs. I get to the part where the bogs meet the woods and start to slowly walk along the bog. Out of nowhere I hear deer jump up out of the brush so I immediately get to one knee and hit the grunt call that was around my neck. The deer stop! At this point I cannot see them but I can clearly hear them walking. I hit the grunt tube again and this deer comes crashing through the brush right towards me. I almost crap in my pants when I see that its my target buck and he is at 30 yrds! As he walks behind a pine tree I come to full draw waiting for him to come out. He takes another step and hes at 20 yrds perfect broadside. Only problem is that there was way to much brush for me to feel comfortable letting one fly. I owe him more than that and decided to hold at full draw and hope he walked more into the open. Seconds later he bolted after a doe and they circled around me chasing for minutes. I grunted again and had a large 6 pt come into ten yrds and walk right by me broadside. Again at full draw I decided not to shoot and hope for "my buck" to come in. Then from the bogs i hear a crash and my buck comes chasing after the 6 pt in the woods. The last I saw of them the three deer went down into the bogs. I stayed there for awhile after and grunted but could not get them out. I heard crashing and running through the bogs after that but they wouldnt budge. IM TRYING TO COVER MY SHIFT FOR WORK TOMORROW! KILLING ME! By far the most extreme day in the woods. I know it sounds hard to believe but it is all very true! Awesome stuff | |
