Nov 2nd - Nov 8th

pretty good day in the woods..

Sat this morning and man it was freezing.

I was a little pissed off after the fact because when it got light out there was a guy 40 yards away from me. I dont walk in with a flashlight but I walked right on the edge of the field and he was set up on the edge..but he never whistled or anything..me not knowing I setup just to his left...no deer came through but still.

Ended up seeing 8 deer cross the field...3 little runts were at 30 yards just at daybreak but no bucks showed.

Went home..ate, took a nap, put gas in the car then headed out for a PM hunt.

Got in my stand which has been hot! Was settled in by 2:20 and by 3:30 I had movement.

I saw my 8pt sneaking in from where he normally does, hear him crunching his way right towards me. Then to my other side I hear more crunching..theres a 4pt over there. Both of them acknowledge each other...the 4pt is 40 yards away and the 8 is at 30 but in some brush. The 4 starts to walk off and the 8 follows him making sure he leaves. I probably could of shot the 8pt at 35 yards but I didnt want to risk it, he has no idea I am there. They left and a little later I see the 4pt moving through the woods behind me. Then he dissapears.

Around 430 a doe pops out and I hear more crunching behind her. The 4pt was on her and she took off and he followed.

great day in the woods..saw 11 deer total and had my target buck at 30 yards...ill get him soon

All I can say is WOW. What a great day to be out. Probably my best day in the woods.

Steve and went back to the Ringoes Farm. I hunted the back spot this morning. I walked the tracks to get to the stand and when I came to the end I bump a bunch of deer off the creek. Crap I hope I didn't blow the morning. NOPE. About an hour later I look to my right and see a deer at around 50 yards. It's still hazy so I can't tell what it is. I put the binoculars up and Big Buck. Looked like a wide and tall 8 with very dark antlers. I hit the grunt (cause he was moving away). He stops, looks and then moves on. Damn. About an hour after that i see my friend the 5pt. He comes in to say WHAT UP. Then, at 9:15am I look to my right across the creek and a huge, white antler deer running with his nose to the ground. He didn't respond to anything.


PM HUNT
I planned on hunting the ground this afternoon near where I saw that big 8. I get set up, clear some branches and decided. I don't like hunting from the ground. LOL. I proceed over to my ladderstand (70 yards away). I get up and kick a small buck out from across the creek.

About 45mins later I see 2 does. Then that 5pt. He is on them. One doe breaks off and he trails her. Second doe (small) hangs 20 yards from me for the next 2 hours. Then a 6 comes by me at around 45 yards and makes his way to the field. Then 2 does make there way to the field. Then something very wierd happend. I see the does in the middle field. I put the binoculars up and one is dancing around the other. Then gets up on her hind legs and kicks. The other follows suit and does the same. Then they are chasing each other around the field. LESBOS????? lol.

It's starting to get hazy now. I see the 5pt is back. He comes across the creek and proceeds to destroy this little sampling. 10 yards from me. He works his way to my corn and has a snack. Then a 2inch spike joins him. They spar a bit. I hear something behind me at this point. I look... Big Buck across the creek fixed on the oother two. Looked like about 17 inch spread tall rack 8. Im loosing shooting light at this point. He hangs tight and doesn't move. Damn.

Lets end this short. lol. I had so many deer around me at the end of the night I could get down. Buck chasing does right in front of me. I was afraid if I got down I would get gored.

ahhhhhhh... love is in the air

Cool Dubs. Man you are right. What a great day in the woods. Got in a little late this morning but got settled in and just at dawn had an owl land on a branch about 10 feet from me. The thing was eyeing me up so I grunted at it and it took off. at 8 saw a lone deer very large body walking through the thicket, but couldn't see it's head. I hit the grunt and the can and nothing. 8:30 had a hen turkey walk 20 feet from the tree all the while doing the kee=kee-run it was prety cool. As I was walking out I decided to circle the property down by the river up to the spot I hunted Wednesday and saw nothing. As I got to the top of the small ridge I put my climber down and looked down into the bottom and saw a doe standing 15 yds from the tree I hunted in wed. That's not the best part. As I wathced the doe a huge buck appeared right behind her. when I say huge probably one of the biggest bucks I have seen in the woods alive. By my estimates 18-20 wide with 6-7 inch brows and 10 inch or so g2 and g3. An unbelievable sight(too bad I was not in that spot) anyway it was exciting to see deer again after 5 sits I was discouraged, but not anymore. Tomorrow I am going out an putting up a stand to try cut this buck off.

Well got to satnd at 4:45 Sat a.m. and 9 deer under my tree. Ran them off couple came out at day break. Then nothing. Going to drop to my secondary bottom where I saw my big buck's last season. I think the Rut will be in full swing this week. Good luck to all and remeber you can't kill them from work or home so get out there!
